Mission Statement:

“The Mission of the New Durham Highway Department is to maintain the infrastructure of the Town in a safe and economical manner and to attain the highest resident satisfaction possible.”

Operations:

The Highway Department is responsible for administering all 60 miles of road surface and related construction. We also provide general maintenance work, ground maintenance, overseers of Dams, and Town Cemeteries.

Our Department consists of the Road Agent, 5 full-time members of staff, 1 seasonal employee and a Part-time Administrative Assistant. Performance of duties consists of:

  • Seasonal plowing and sanding
  • Mowing - Ball field, lawns at town facilities, and roadsides
  • Paving
  • Cold patching
  • Road sign maintenance
  • Grading
  • Drainage installation & maintenance
  • Any other duties of a related nature generic to the Department
