Barn Disassemble Volunteers needed beginning April 28.

Zechariah Boodey Farmstead
Volunteer barn project

Zechariah Boodey Farmstead COmmittee is seeking Volunteers:

All the necessary steps are in place to begin the actual work to disassemble the “gifted barn” for the Zechariah Boodey Farmstead Project. Thank you for volunteering to help with our needs; people to help remove shingles, nails and remove material from inside the structure.

The first day is scheduled for this Saturday, April 28 beginning at 8:30 am. We’ll work until approximately 5:00pm. (Rain or shine, plenty to do inside of barn.)

The location of the barn is at 221 Chestnut Cove Road in Alton, NH. (See directions below)

We will be provided food and beverages, supplied by Rotary Clubs from the local area, for the volunteers. Please RSVP number of volunteers attending and your approximate available time, as this will assist us with planning.

Also, it would be helpful to bring the following tools and items with you:

  • Eye protection
  • Gloves
  • Hammer, crowbars, catspaw, heavy duty flat end shovel
  • Hard hat, if you have it
  • Wheel barrow
  • Brush trimmers

Please keep in mind this is a construction zone, wear strong sturdy footwear.  Weather conditions are subject to change, dress in layers.

Depending on the progress made Saturday, we’ll announce additional work dates.

Thank you for supporting our needs for the dismantling of the barn. Your service is helping to reduce cost for the project, preserves an important piece of our early history and advances this project to the next step for reconstruction.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 603-859-4643. Thank you and see you soon.

Warm Regards;

Catherine Orlowicz
