CCVD Snow Removal and Ice Control

Memo To:           CCVD Residents

From:                   CCVD Commissioners Virginia Skinner & Laurene Todd

Date:                    October 12, 2018

Subject:               CCVD SNOW REMOVAL AND ICE CONTROL

In preparation for the snow-plowing season, we are asking ALL residents to please clear brush, small trees and tree stumps from your property abutting CCVD roads. Clearing the brush approximately 5 feet back from the road will allow for the CCVD plow to push back or shelve the snow to help re-establish road widths, allow for drainage and make space for future snow storms.

We are also in desperate need of volunteers to help clear brush from village owned property. If you are interested in helping our Village, please email us at 2015ccvd@gmail.com.

We would also like to share with our CCVD community some standard operating guidelines for snow removal and ice control:

  1. New Hampshire snow storms are notoriously unpredictable, and it should be expected that some procedures may be changed abruptly to provide the best overall results at that time for CCVD
  2. Changes in procedures will be at the discretion of the Snow Plow Driver and/or CCVD Commissioners.
  3. During an active storm, it is NOT possible to maintain a snow and ice-free road. Similar to other towns and villages, it is the intention of CCVD to provide practical and safe access to homes during winter storms
  4. Based on weather reports, snow removal operations begin at the discretion of the Plow Driver and/or Commissioners for accumulations of 2 inches or more.
  5. Due to the many variables of a snow storm, pre-treatment and/or ice control may be addressed prior to an actual storm, during the storm or at the end of a storm. For example: Salt has a much slower melting rate on snow and ice when temperatures are below 25 degrees and, therefore, may not be applied until it is warmer.
  6. Street Parking is prohibited throughout the months of December, January, February, March and depending upon the weather, possibly April.
  7. Temporary parking is available in the spots in the front of the lodge during snow storms only.
  8. Please submit your questions or concerns regarding snow or ice control via email to 2015CCVD@gmail.com.
  9. During a storm, this email will be monitored closely by one or more of the commissioners.
  10. Do NOT use the above email address for health emergencies; dial 911

These guidelines are to serve as normal operating procedures for snow removal and ice control. However, one or more of the following may delay or prevent implementation of these guidelines:

Equipment breakdown (Note: CCVD plow truck recently serviced and in great working order), snow accumulation in excess of 1-inch per hour, freezing rain or other icing conditions, emergencies or personnel absence.
